Thank you for visiting the Isle of Wight Donkey website. The Sanctuary is based between Shanklin and Ventnor on the road to Wroxall and we are open throughout the spring and summer months from 10:30am till 4:30pm weather permitting.

The Sanctuary was first established in 1987 to provide any donkey in distress or otherwise in need of care and attention, a safe and permanent home. The charity relies entirely on the kind donations of visitors and many fundraising activities held throughout the year.

Donkeys need a lot of care and attention. They need regular brushing, called grooming and their hooves trimmed by a farrier every six to eight weeks, however; in general donkeys are very placid, gentle creatures and respond best when they are treated kindly. They are very loyal and this is what makes them very good friends. So when you next visit the donkeys at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, why don't you kindly pat one on the neck and make a new friend for life!

We would like to thank all of you who have helped us tirelessly with donations, fundraising, adoptions, raffle tickets and sales of our Christmas cards. You have all been so kind and we are very grateful for your support. We would not be able to continue the work that we do without you, our loyal supporters.

Adopt A Donkey at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary - Featured Donkey...

SNOWY

Adopt Snowy at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

Snowy came to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary as a small foal, on the same day as his donkey friend Brandy. He too was in need of specialised care and attention as he was so very young and still in need of mothers milk. He has since grown into a fine snowy white donkey with a kind, gentle temperament and is a firm favourite with the visitors to the farm.

Online Adoptions are an easy way to help support the donkeys at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary and all your support is much appreciated. [Click here to Adopt Snowy]
